    General Tui-Na info
The age-old science of Chinese Tui-Na medicine revolves around the use of the physician’s hands to diagnose through palpation and treat diseases and illnesses with a variety of manual techniques. The Tui-Na physician will then tailor-make a treatment protocol to each individual patient based on the specifics of their particular situation to effect a cure. These treatments are done without the use of devices or drugs, relying solely on the physician’s hands directly treating the patient’s body. A well trained Tui-Na physician will also be quick to utilize modern medical resources when available, gladly taking a patient’s MRI, X-ray, biopsy, or other test results into consideration. While the average person may only conceive of such treatment methods as useful for external or orthopedic disorders, the reality is quite different.

Tui-Na vs. Other manual treatment methods
Tui-Na is also unlike either massage or chiropractic in technique and theory. On a theoretical level, Tui-Na uses traditional Chinese medical theory as a basis for treatment. Concepts of chi (ch’i, qi, or ki) energy, blood, yin & yang, and essence play pivotal roles. On a technical level, Tui-Na is far more broad and encompassing than either massage or chiropractic medicine. Massage, by and large, does not treat diseases, but rather relaxes muscle tension and increases local circulation to relieve discomfort. However, most massage systems lack the kind of comprehensive scope that Tui-Na is known for. Most massage is also unable to effectively treat disturbances in bone alignment. Chiropractic, on the other hand, while it may reliably reduce misalignments in bony structures, generally does not spend adequate time treating the muscles surrounding the bony structures before and after re-alignment. As a result, many patients of chiropractic complain of a rebound effect following treatments. Tui-Na, however, treats the muscular tension surrounding bony structures in such a way as to minimize the rebound effect immediately following treatments.

This patient was unable to lift her right arm above her head due to frozen shoulder syndrome. She exhibited limited range of motion both with frontal and lateral elevation. Following a single Tui-Na treatment from Dr. Kim, the patient's full active range of motion was restored to her right shoulder.

This elderly patient presented with limited range of motion in her right leg at the knee joint. She could neither completely straighten nor bend her leg. Her MD diagnosed her with osteoarthritis. Following only one Tui-Na treatment, the patient was able to both straighten and bend her leg freely without pain and with full range of motion.

Acute Lower Back Pain (Herniated Disk)
This young woman arrived in excruciating pain, unable to stand erect or sit properly. She was diagnosed by her MD as having a herniated disk.

Immediately after one treatment, she can now sit up straight, without pain, and walked out of the clinic with her normal range of motion again

    Advantages of Tui-Na Treatment:
While there are a host of reasons to laud Tui-Na as a healing modality, the main advantages can be viewed in three main parts:

    1. Efficacy: For many diseases and problems, Tui-Na achieves a speedy and profound result, whereas mainstream allopathic medicine requires a longer time to bring about visible results. For example, most hypertension patients see a 20-30 mmHg drop in blood pressure within 5 minutes after Tui-Na treatment. It is also applicable on a very wide scope of diseases, as mentioned above.

    2. Lack of Side Effects & Complications: Unlike surgical or pharmaceutical based medicines, there is a marked lack of side effects from Tui-Na treatments as there are no foreign objects or chemicals entering the body. Tui-Na treatment has also been proven to strengthen the body’s natural defenses, increasing mean corpuscular volume by more than 2% following treatment. Your safety, both long term and short term, is our first concern.

    3. Low Cost: Compared to the high price of allopathic doctor visits that may only last for a few minutes and the even higher price of surgery, Tui-Na is far less expensive and brings about a more rapid and lasting improvement with a holistic view towards your health and well-being. There is a growing list of patients who have been saved from unnecessary surgery by proper Tui-Na treatments. As a result, there are a growing number of insurance carriers whom we’ve saved from paying out large sums to surgeons and hospitals!
